YOUR

GOOD GIRL
ARCHETYPE

IS

THE PERFECTIONIST

From Paralysis to Creative Powerhouse

Love. I see you.

You have so much integrity, and truly, you do elevate everything you touch.

You have a keen eye for detail and refinement and are deeply committed to excellence.

You are thoughtful, dedicated, detailed, and when it feels safe, you pour yourself fully into what you are creating.

You are brilliant at bringing beauty and order into the world, and you deeply desire that this beauty is a reflection of your truest heart and intention.

And, also, you are likely the one who holds herself to impossibly high standards, the one whose mind spins endlessly with thoughts of what could go wrong or what’s not quite perfect yet.

You’ve been navigating life under the belief that if you don’t get it just right, you’ll somehow fail—fail yourself, fail others, fail to live up to the expectations that have defined your worth.

I know that it feels like you are always vacillating, hesitating, doubting yourself  in moments you need to leap. I know the heart fall when you feel yourself tap dancing back from the starting line.

I know how it feels when your mind races at 3 a.m., replaying moments over and over, thinking about what you should have said, what you could have done. You are so deeply aware of every missed opportunity, of every moment you didn’t act or speak or leap.

But there’s another truth here: your voice, your impulse, your action—they’re not only worthy, they’re needed. Not someday, now. Yet, the pressure to get it right keeps you frozen, waiting for the perfect moment that never comes.

It truly doesn’t have to be this way. You are beyond allowed to make mistakes. In fact, this is the only way your deepest desires can come to fruition and your authentic creative vision can come on line.

You are allowed to act on your impulses. To just trust and leap, sometimes. Even if you are wrong. To trust your creative and intuitive impulses.

You are allowed to be messy. Really messy, sometimes. To aim for a B instead of an A+ student as you try new things. You are allowed to release the weight of perfection. To say "screw it" to the 10th certification you have been completing before you fully share your offering to the world.

Let’s break the rules that have kept you in this cycle of paralysis, fear, and anxiety, and guide you toward a life where you trust yourself deeply, where you can act without overthinking, and where you know that being human is more than enough.

How This Shows Up in Your Life:

Relationships: Silencing Your Voice to Keep the Peace

You often hold back in your relationships, don’t you? Because, simply put, you are trying to be "good." So perfectly good.

You are reaching for the impossible standard of being the perfect partner, daughter, parent or friend.

You hesitate to share your true thoughts, feelings, and impulses out of fear that you’ll say or do the wrong thing, or that you’ll disrupt the harmony. So, you walk on a balance beam, disconnected from your authentic truth.

Or worse, you will realize afterwards that you were actually the problem in the situation.

Whether it’s with your partner, your family, or your friends, you’re used to playing it safe—calculating your words and actions to avoid conflict or disappointment until it feels like you are screaming inside.

You find yourself replaying conversations in your head, thinking, “I wish I had said that” or “Why didn’t I speak up?” or "Why DID I say that?"

It’s as if you’re watching yourself in those moments, trapped behind a glass wall, unable to step forward and be seen or speak the truth of what is going on inside of you. And afterward, the shame of staying silent or communicating in an "un-evolved" way eats at you and the cost of the constant self-doubt is heavy.

The Cost:

And of course, this is costing emotional intimacy and authentic connection with the people who matter to you the most.

By holding back, you’re depriving your relationships of the full, vibrant, messy truth of who you are. And the intimacy that can only come from the truth of what "is" for both of you.

You wind sacrificing your voice and truth unless they are perfectly clear and concise, but in doing so, you’re also losing the chance to be truly seen, heard, and understood. Over time, this creates a deep sense of frustration and disconnect, and then things can wind up going up in flames very quickly.

What would it feel like to trust yourself enough to speak your truth in real time?

To allow yourself to show up imperfectly, but honestly?

Even if you aren't always exactly clear and concise and your truth isn't for a specific end result.

Purpose and Creativity:

Trapped in Procrastination & Rumination

You have brilliant ideas, so much creativity, and a deep desire to make an impact. But the moment you try to take action, you’re hit with a wave of overwhelm, self-doubt and dread.

The project has to be perfect, the plan has to be bulletproof, you need to look polished as you execute it, and you must feel completely ready before you can move forward.

So, you wait. You refine. You overthink. You doubt the whole thing. You go back to square one. Days, weeks, months, even years pass by, and the creative ideas and visions and paths remains in your head, never fully realized, and you lose more and more faith in yourself that they ever will be.

How many times have you watched an opportunity pass you by because you couldn’t act fast enough?

Because you doubted yourself?

You keep telling yourself, “When I feel more prepared, when circumstances align more easily then I’ll start,” but love, that moment never comes, does it?

The Cost:

The cost of this pattern is missed opportunities, self-expression and momentum.

Your creative gifts remain hidden because you’re too afraid to put them into the world imperfectly or to just start with the “good enough” idea right now. The endless procrastination keeps you in a cycle of feeling “not ready,” and the perfectionism traps you in a state of paralysis. You have so much to offer, but your fear of not getting it right is keeping you small and disconnected from your intuitive gifts and power.

What if you could give yourself permission to create from a sense a playfulness, from lightness and fun and what brings you alive, without the need for perfection?

What if you could trust that what you create is more than enough, just as it is? And that you can continue to sculpt and continue to hone as you show up?

Money and Financial Patterns:

Fear of Loss and Control

You’ve developed a relationship with money that’s built on self, doubt and abdication or hyper-control.

The common thread...scarcity and shame (no matter how much money you have access to).

You may be super careful with your spending, always making sure to plan, budget, and save meticulously. But no matter how much you control the numbers, there’s an underlying fear—what if it’s not enough? What if I'm not hyperventilate enough? What if I lose it all or make bad decisions? What if I make mistakes?

Or if you can't be "perfect" with it or you don't feel that you are contributing enough, there may be total abdication of decision making and avoidance of looking at the numbers and how you are aligning your dollars with your values. Essentially, disassociation, because it brings up shame. So, you wind up feeling like you don't have the right to spend or make decisions.

This unconscious desire to control extends beyond money—it’s about internal safety. There is an internal coupling of your sense of security and self-worth to perceived financial stability and/or your ability to generate income consistently. So, any fluctuation in your finances sends a ripple of anxiety through your system.

You avoid taking risks, even when those risks could bring you closer to what you truly want. You avoid conversations about raises, or charging the full value of what you offer in your business or creative offering.

And if you are not earning money (and/or you don't value the unpaid labor you provide your family), you may default to allowing your partner or family member to make all the decisions about your joint financial life. Again, you may doubt your ability to make good decisions or take risks. If you can’t be perfect with it, you may try to hand away all responsibility.

The Cost:

The cost of this pattern is living in a constant state of anxiety and procrastination around money and financial decisions.

You may have financial stability, but it never feels like enough. You certainly don’t feel deeply safe, free and empowered.

The fear of loss and the need for control keep you from experiencing true abundance, freedom and trust. From enjoying the flow of money in and out. You’re stuck in a cycle of scarcity, even when you have plenty.

What would it feel like to release some of that control?

To trust that you are supported, and to know that your worth isn’t tied to how perfectly you manage your finances or how much you earn?

You’ve Seen the Pattern. Now Break It.

Your archetype was never meant to define you.

It was meant to keep you safe - but now, it’s keeping you stuck.

Receiving and Self-Worth:

Believing You Must Earn Everything

You’ve been conditioned to believe that you must earn everything—whether it’s love, generosity, success, or recognition.

This belief shows up in your life as a deep discomfort with receiving and trusting—whether it’s a compliment, help, or even an opportunity—you freeze. It feels like you haven’t done enough to deserve it yet. It’s too good to be true. The other shoe will drop, soon.

You might find yourself deflecting compliments or downplaying your achievements because deep down, you don’t feel worthy of receiving without proving yourself first.

Because of course, the only way to receive is to be perfect at giving all the time. And if you can’t be perfect, you might as well just shut down or disappear for a bit.

The Cost:

This pattern is keeping you in a cycle of depletion and self-flagellation. By refusing to receive, you’re blocking the flow of love, support, and abundance that’s available to you from people who see through this pattern in you, who love you as you are.

You’ve been giving so much for so long that you’re running on empty, and yet you feel like you still haven’t done enough to deserve the rest, care, or acknowledgement you crave.

Imagine what it would feel like to open yourself to receive fully, without guilt or hesitation. To trust that you are worthy of love, success, and care, simply because you exist.

Time and Energy:

Lost in Overwhelm and Burnout

You live in a constant state of overwhelm--whether that is internal OR external.

There’s always so much to do, and there are so many tasks to do things perfectly, and the pressure to do it perfectly leaves you feeling pressured and paralyzed.

Even when there time in your schedule, you might find you are ruminating and activated.

You are running in circles in your mind (which can feel depleting, too) You might find yourself spending hours on tasks that should take minutes, reworking and refining until you’ve exhausted yourself. Because you are trying to be the perfect wife, daughter, employee, friend (at the expense of your authenticity and truth).

At the same time, you’re deeply sensitive to the energies around you, which only adds to the overwhelm. You’re absorbing the emotions, stress, and needs of others, and it’s draining you. You end up feeling scattered, disconnected from your own needs, and too depleted to focus on what truly matters.

The Cost:

This pattern is costing you your energy, life, force and and vitality. You’ve been running on empty for so long that burnout has become your norm. You’re so focused on getting everything right that you’ve lost the ability to discern what actually deserves your time and attention. You’re pouring your energy into tasks, people, and situations that don’t nourish you, leaving you exhausted and unfulfilled.

What if you could reclaim some of your time and energy, focusing only on what truly matters to you?

What if you could create a life that feels spacious, where you have room to breathe, rest, and savour the moment?

The Good Girl Rules that May Own You More than you Realize

The unconscious Patriarchal conditioning that has shaped your thinking and behavior runs deep, even if you don’t consciously believe it. These are the Good Girl rules that have most infiltrated your psyche:

It’s a Good Girl’s job to be execute flawlessly. No mess allowed.

A Good Girl is only polite, stoic and dignified.

Good Girls must never make mistakes, speak out of turn, or act impulsively.

A Good Girl’s worth is tied to how the external world and other people perceive her achievements and status.

Good Girls need to maintain a flawless exterior, even if they are crumbling inside.

A Good Girl can only become more fully visible once she has earned that through perfection at what she does.

A Good Girl must earn ease, pleasure and play through her productivity.

Nervous System Patterns:

From Freeze to Flow

Your nervous system has been in a state of freeze for so long that it’s become your default response. The fear of making a mistake, of saying the wrong thing, of acting impulsively—these fears have kept you stuck, unable to move forward.

There is a strong flight response that shows up whenever you sense you are about to experience perceived failure or criticism, shame or judgment (from yourself or others) or even uncertainty.

And you are incredibly hard on yourself (internalized fight response) when you feel like there is a failure to launch or when shame arises from the results you have or haven't gotten.

Freeze/Collapse

Flight

Fight (turned toward yourself when you can't be perfect)

The Cost:

Living in a state of nervous system freeze is robbing you of your vitality and ability to take action. You’re so afraid of getting it wrong that you’ve lost the ability to trust your instincts and act with confidence.  Perfectionism is a coping strategy your system has developed to create a false sense of safety.

What would it feel like to let go of the need for perfection, to trust that you are safe, even when things aren’t perfect?

To move through life with flow and ease, rather than fear and hesitation?

Patterns of Self-Sabotage: The Illusion of Control

The Perfectionist’s bracing for control is a form of self-sabotage. You believe that if you can just control every detail—of your work, of your work, your relationships, your life—you’ll be safe from failure, rejection, disappointment and uncertainty But this need for control is keeping you trapped in a cycle of anxiety and inaction or over-working and functioning to meet impossible standards.

You may start projects with enthusiasm, but the moment you encounter uncertainty or the possibility of failure, you retreat, hide, and then justify. You freeze. You avoid the discomfort by over-analyzing, procrastinating, justifying why now isn't the right time  or abandoning the task altogether. Or you plow though, but it takes so much time and energy and focus that all of the joy is drained out of the creative process.

The illusion of control has you believing that if you just try harder, if you just do more, if you just figure more out, you’ll finally feel safe enough to act or to allow yourself to be seen in the "process." But it’s this very control that is keeping you from your full power and from actually stepping into the arena of change (through action).

The Cost:

This pattern is keeping you stuck in a loop of self-doubt, frustration and depletion.

The more you try to brace, and clench and control, the more disconnected you become from your true self—the part of you that longs for freedom, spontaneity, adventure, wildness and joy. You’re sacrificing your creative expression and your ability to take risks because you’re too afraid of what might happen if you let go.

What if you could trust yourself to handle whatever comes your way, even if it’s imperfect?

What if you could move through life with a sense of curiosity and openness, rather than fear and control?

Meet Your Future Self: The Untamed Muse

Imagine stepping into a world where creativity flows through you like wildfire—unrestrained, unapologetic, alive.

The Untamed Creative doesn’t wait for permission, and she certainly doesn’t abide by the rules. She trusts herself so deeply that every choice, every brushstroke, every word, every action feels like a revolutionary act.

She’s connected to something primal, something sacred within herself that doesn’t seek approval or validation. This isn’t just about creating art; it’s about creating life on her terms.

As the Untamed Creative, you’ll know what it feels like to embrace your quirks, your wild ideas, and the glorious imperfections that make you unforgettable.

You’ll feel the freedom of taking up space, sharing your raw truth, and watching your self-expression ripple out into the world, untethered by judgment or perfectionism.

The Perfectionist in you—the part that has fought so hard to keep everything in line, to do things “right”—she’s not gone. She’s evolving. She’s here to protect your newfound freedom, to channel her fierce discipline into honouring your creative flow and boundaries that nurture your vision.

Your creativity becomes your compass. You’re not just becoming creative—you’re becoming untamed, unapologetic, and undeniably yourself.

Are you ready to create without constraint, to live without boundaries, and to trust yourself as the masterpiece you were always meant to be.

The Untamed Muse

In Relationships: You speak your truth with courage, trusting that your voice is valuable.

You create deeper, more authentic connections by showing up fully as yourself, without the need to perfect or censor your words.

You’re no longer afraid of shaking things up or creating waves—because you know that the messiness of truth is what brings true intimacy and clarity.

In Your Purpose: You take action on your creative ideas without overthinking.

You move forward with confidence, even when the future is uncertain, knowing that it’s okay to make mistakes along the way. Because your self-trust has become unshakable.

The Untamed Creative doesn’t wait for the “perfect” moment; she follows her passion, trusting that the act of creation itself is enough. You start to experience momentum and alignment and living in flow instead of rigidity.

In Money:

You release the fear that your worth is tied to financial control.

You create a healthy, empowered relationship with money, trusting that abundance flows when you release the need for perfection and when you step into your truth, and a path that brings you fully alive and honors your authenticity.

You stop over-managing every detail (or conversely, avoiding the entire conversation because you can’t do it perfectly) and start trusting the bigger flow of wealth abundance that naturally supports you (including community, spiritual, spaciousness with time and creative inspiration).

In Time and Energy: You reclaim your time and energy, focusing on what truly matters. You let go of the endless to-do lists and the need to control every outcome, allowing yourself to rest and recharge. As the Untamed Creative, you honor your energy cycles, knowing that rest and play are essential parts of the creative process. You hold your time and energy sacred as a river toward what matters to you most.

In Your Body:

You move through life with presence and ease, no longer driven by the fear of getting it wrong.

You’ve learned to trust your instincts, to act on your impulses, and to embrace the beauty of imperfection.

Your body feels free, expressive, fluid and alive—no longer held back by the chains of perfectionism or anxiety.

I know this path because I've lived it.

One moment, I was drowning in motherhood
—crippling anxiety, screaming into a pillow in the closet, numbing my fire, waking up hungover, gripping at a life that looked like everything I’d ever wanted but felt like a cage.

Living in a body perpetually out of her zone of tolerance.

The next, I was barefoot in a temple, sweat and tears on my skin, remembering the ancient pulse of a woman who refuses to disappear, and leading women in their own journey of remembering.
Turned all the way on. Connected to something holy. Watching other women wake up, too.

I’m Beth Clayton—somatic mentor, ceremonialist, artist of the living body—and I don't fix women. I call them back to the wildfire they were born with.

I work with women who are carrying too much and still questioning if they’re ever enough—h ighly sensitive, wildly creative forces who are disappearing under Good Girl Rules they don’t even realize they’re following.

Feminists who still flinch at their own desires.
Powerhouses who still hand themselves away to anyone who looks their way.

You may have seen me on the TEDx Broadway stage, uncovering the sabotage stories that live inside us.
But that was just the beginning.

Underneath it all, I work with the wild ones who forgot.
The women who carry generations on their backs.
The women who were taught to soften their edges, starve their hunger, bury their magic deep underground.

Women who are ready to say with their bodies, their lives:
It ends with me.

This work is not about manifesting a shinier life.
It’s about building a truer one.
It’s about unmasking the Good Girl—and remembering who you are in the only place that matters: your body.

Where your rage is clean.
Where your pleasure is prayer.
Where your hunger is holy.

After fifteen years as a transformational coach, hundreds of sacred circles, and years as a licensed Ishtara Body teacher, I have witnessed revolutions:

Women rising from quiet self-doubt into world-builders.
Women turning anguish into poetry, rage into altars, marriages into temples, businesses into movements.
Women who burned the scripts—and became the living permission slips for everyone who watched them rise.

They didn’t just heal themselves.
They changed the bloodlines.
They changed the blueprint.

This isn’t self-improvement.
It’s sacred reclamation.

I’m not here to help you heal so you can behave.
I’m here to help you remember who the f*ck you are—
and build a life that finally mirrors it.
